So it turns out that I picked up an infection in Uganda - henceforth, "trip of doom" - and have been ill ever since, only I didn't notice, because given everything that happened there I expected to come back feeling exhausted and depressed, and the five days of stomach upset that followed were just par for the course, and I was stuck on the book before I left, so no wonder I was feeling despondent and uncreative when I got back, and it's winter, so you'd expect to get laryngitis, and a chest infection, and a cold, and the headaches and dizziness were probably just signs of stress, and the weird-smelling pee was probably just the malaria pills, and -
Well, I'm on antibiotics now. I should be better by the end of the week.

Best wishes and take care of yourself Marie. Speedy recovery to you. All sounds very, very nasty.
Relax and heal quicker :)
Awh, sounds awful. Hope you recover -- you can get DT to rub your chest and you can rub his back better...
Aww, poor you. Hope you feel better soon!
Oh dear. get well soon. To make you feel better, I edited this just for you. (Actually I didn't, but it still might make you feel better.)

Now I'm really worried about my vicarious thrills. Jane Henry has wrenched her back, DT has wrenched his back (doing gawd knows what), and now you've got some exotic disease. Are you going to make it to Hamlet this week? Will DT be there? Will Jane be there? Will you infect the entire Novello Theatre? I can't stand the suspense.
Coincidentally, I was shopping in a toy store for my younger daughter's "Secret Santa" gift exchange (while thinking mildly murderous thoughts about her teacher), and came upon these cute and cuddly "Giant Microbes" stuffy toys. (Be sure to scroll down to see the wide array of maladies available, including several popular venereal diseases.) Being of a sick nature anyway, I've purchased the staphylococcus plush doll for one of my daughter's unsuspecting classmates. It comes with detailed instructions (in both the official languages of Canada) for avoiding the disease. It's our last year at that school anyway.
Don't you think one of these (or the ties featured at Jaywalker's web site last week) would be a perfect gift to toss onstage to DT? There's even one for Ebola (which I somehow doubt you've got).
Ahem. I should like to point out here that the two back injuries are sadly unrelated. But feeling very nervous for Friday. At least I hope that Marie will be better by then! She certainly deserves to be.
Persephone those toys are hilarious. Are they designed by a microbiologist by any chance? Spouse recently went to a talk given by a microbiologist who sounded so paranoid about infection I thought I have to put him in a book. Now I've got some toys to include too...
That's the first time I've ever said "malaria is so cute!"
These are tempting for Friday night I have to admit. I'd love to be able to tell people that I gave David Tennant chlamydia.
TCMJ: hell yeah!
Ugh - hope you get better soon!
