Happy Christmas

I am writing this sitting in the heat beneath a thatched roof in Botswana, having just wrapped my Christmas presents. Surreal juxtaposition. Realised I forgot to mention the blog holiday (am planning to stay offline til the second week in January) or to explain the sorry lack of a Strictly Final post (wrote up the whole thing and then the computer wouldn't let me save or publish. I was delighted with the Kartem victory though.) Anyway, that's all. Not really worth mentioning, but I didn't want anybody worrying that I'd been hit by a bus. (I have not been hit by a bus, unless I get hit by a bus after writing this, which would be ironic.)

Happy Christmas to all and see you in the new year.

Can you believe I was about to go to bed without doing my final post of NaBloPoMo?

Fortunately, I remembered just in time.

See you in December...

Quantity / Quality

So it's fair to say that if I succeed in the NaBloPoMo challenge, it will have been from following the letter rather than the spirit of the law. Right now I am sneezing over the screen of my iPhone whilst queueing for access to the computer, behind my 5-year-old nephew who is currently engaged in a game, described by him, when I asked, as "dat one." Tuesday is the last day of NaBloPoMo and I am intrigued as to whether you've enjoyed this at all. When it comes to blogs, how do you weigh up the relative importance of quantity and quality? What I fear is that by increasing the quantity I don't actually bring the quality up much at all, and in fact may diminish it. Perhaps I should bear this in mind when working on the novel as well.

Only tangentially relevantly, but while I'm here: it is so annoying, in this cold snap, that it's impossible to use an iPhone with gloves on. That's what you get when you let Californians take over product design. Pffffft. *tries to rub life back into scaly blue fingers*.

Mistakes

I am at home.

My computer is at work.

Blogging on a phone is a tiny-keyboarded nightmare.

Do I renounce all claims to true writership if I can't be arsed to write like this? I mean, I know that writers are supposed to say 'if I can't write I'll die' but is one permitted to add the caveat 'except if I have to write using only my thumbs, on keys a quarter of the size of the nail on my little finger'?

Strictlywatch will return with my reunion with a full-sized keyboard.

Saturday

I am not here.

But it would be a crying shame to fail my IntBloPoMo challenge just because of that...

IntBloPoMo

After my complaints about NaNoWriMo, I was challenged by Alicey in the comments to take part in NaBloPoMo, or 'National Blog Posting Month'. All these Nas refer to the nation of the USA, so really I should be talking about IntBloPoMo - it's kind of like the reverse of the "World" Series. Anyway the idea of Na/IntBloPoMo is that I will be posting on my blog every day for the whole of the month of November. Regular readers will know that this won't come easily to me, precisely because it is impossible to be a regular reader of this blog, as I post so very irregularly. But anyway, the challenge is on. At least thirty blog posts this month! Reader, I am spoiling you.

Of course I haven't promised that all of my IntBloPoMo blog posts will be interesting.

Some of them will be quite dull.

Like this one.

See you back here tomorrow...
