Most Depressing Conversation Ever

Me: It's my brother's 40th birthday next week.
My yoga teacher: Is that your younger brother?

I know I'm stiff, but come on! I am thirty-one years old! (Thirty-two in three weeks, but even so...)

No! Is she blind? Or was it some kind of bad joke? Marie, please believe me, you do not look over 40.

Is this the brother who resembles Paul Gross? Wouldn't the problem be more that he doesn't look forty? (The nerve!)

I had a portrait taken with my younger sister when I was 24 and she 22. When we were setting up the order, I paid for my sister's copy, and the saleslady said: "Oh... Mum's coming to the rescue, is she?" It took a few horrible seconds for both of us to register what had just occurred. I repeat; I was twenty-four years old. I won't go into the charming incidents when I have been mistaken for my children's grandmother...

This made me laugh out loud!! Sorry...I'm sure it was just a slip of the tongue, you know getting the words "older" and "younger" confused, as you do..

oh no, not 40, no way! I've had the exact opposite happen, on my sister's bat mitzvah (my sister was 13, I was 22) the photographer asked which one was the youngest! doh!

Bro.

Sorry.

Was she blind? My brother in law is fifteen years older then my husband and was once mistaken for his dad by an ex pupil...

I am so depressed at the thought of being 43 this year (40-42 were just fine and dandy) as I really really can't claim to be young anymore...

Wanted: one excellent present for big brother.

Wanted: one new yoga instructor.

That is quite simply the funniest thing I've heard all week.
But no, dear, it's ok, you don't look 42. And I am always brutally honest.

Aw. I'd still totally do you... and I'm 31.

I like Anonymous's comment best.

I just saw your photo on your book's site, and I'm pretty sure your yoga teacher is a snot. An envious snot.
