Gods Behaving Badly is the number one bestselling fiction hardback in Canada.
They can't all be selling to Persephone.
I'm kind of in shock - good shock - I just can't believe that more people want to buy my book than any other book. It's number one. Top. It gets to have "Number One Bestseller" on the jacket. I think it means that I'm a little bit famous in Canada. I could probably speak to David Tennant, in Canada. (Who is the Canadian David Tennant?) Also, next time I do a book tour in Canada, I reckon I get to fly Premium Economy.
You know what? This might just be one of the most bloody amazing things ever to have happened to me in my life.

Fantastic, Marie!!! And very well deserved.
Hurrah for Canada. And well done to you!
Congratulations! Another step on the road to world domination!
Congrats! I've heard Canadians have really good taste in books. (Okay, I'm Canadian and I totally enjoyed your book!!) I'm feeling very patriotic right now!
Congratulations Marie. That's fantastic news and an amazing achievement :o)
The Canadian David Tennant? Hmmmn. Someone who is a talented actor, aesthetically appealing, and is stalked by both women and gays...
I dunno... Hayden Christensen? Jim Carrey? Ryan Gosling? Keanu Reeves? (Oh Gawd, surely not!) Eric McCormack? William Shatner? (He did do Star Trek and is a trained Shakespearean actor, believe it or not.) Or Michael Shanks, who stars in Stargate SG-1, is a looker, and is also a classically trained regular at the Shakespeare Festival in Statford Ontario -- not famous enough, though.
I wish I could claim to be responsible for your success in Canada, but although I have mentioned your book, early and often, my sphere of influence is really tiny. It must be some other reason...like the book is actually good and that Canadians (as Heather has pointed out) have excellent taste? Congratulations...
Well done indeed Marie. I'm also Canadian, even though I've now lived in the UK for 33 years.
Are they selling "Les dieux ne valent pas mieux in Quebec"?
Oops. Apologies for changing the French title of your book with the misplaced quotes. Well done again!
Nothing more than you deserve! :)
Truly wonderful Marie! Heartfelt congratulations.....yes it really is well deserved. I know my Canadian coz has a copy :)
Well done!
Congratulations, Marie!
Canadian David Tennant? Well, Paul Gross, obviously. The man is singlehandedly responsible for my Mountie fetish.
I second TCMJ's vote for Paul Gross.
I'm Canadian, I just finished reading it, and REALLY enjoyed it. When I bought it, the book clerk had already read it (and she also enjoyed it).
I think there was some great publicity around the book and its concept. I know I learned of your book through an article (wish I could remember where, perhaps through a link provided by BookNinja where I get most of my book information). I was so intrigued I sought the book out, which I very rarely do.
So, there you have my focus group of one. You know, just in case you were interested in how they've been marketing your book.
Congratulations!
Cripes! Well done!

How brilliant. Keep this moment and bottle it!
